For years, my friends and I have been enchanted by the world of Enesco. It’s become our shared passion, igniting excitement as we eagerly scour art auctions in pursuit of these cherished treasures. Each auction feels like a thrilling adventure, brimming with the promise of discovering new additions to our beloved collections.
One of my favorite aspects of collecting Enesco is the sheer joy it brings. Whether it’s the whimsical charm of Mary Moo Moo plates or the delightful nostalgia of the “Home is Where the Herd is” series, each piece holds a special place in my heart. While finding complete sets can be challenging, stumbling upon individual plates feels like uncovering hidden gems amidst the hustle and bustle of the auction floor.
My journey into the world of Enesco began shortly after I got married. Accompanied by my sister-in-law, whose own collection sparked my interest, I found myself captivated by the allure of these unique pieces. It was a day filled with laughter, excitement, and the promise of new adventures in collecting.
I still remember the thrill of acquiring my very first Enesco piece – a charming plate adorned with the words “Cookies are for Sharing.” Since then, it has held a place of honor in my kitchen, serving as a daily reminder of the joy that collecting brings.
Yet, despite years of dedicated collecting, there’s one elusive plate that continues to evade me – the coveted “Cream of the Crop.” With duplicates and triplicates of other plates adorning my shelves, each auction offers renewed hope of completing my cherished set.
For my best friend, the journey into Enesco collecting began with the arrival of her first child. Inspired by a teddy bear nursery theme, she embarked on a quest to fill her home with Cherished Teddies figurines. From baby showers to art auctions, each new find added to her growing collection, fueling her passion for these endearing treasures.
While Precious Moments figurines never quite captured my own interest, they hold a special place in the heart of my friend’s daughter. Introduced to them at an art auction, she’s since embarked on her own collecting journey, enchanted by the charm and nostalgia they evoke.
As for my husband, his birthday on Halloween inspired a new collecting endeavor – Enesco Halloween statues. It all began with a gift from me – a statue by the talented Jim Shore that captured his imagination. Since then, he’s been drawn to the eerie allure of pieces like the “Grim Reaper,” each one adding a touch of spookiness to our home.
Even as my husband pursues his own collecting interests, my passion for Enesco remains unwavering. At every auction, I eagerly seek out new additions for both my Moo Moo plate collection and his Halloween statue display. It’s a shared journey filled with excitement and anticipation, each acquisition adding to the rich tapestry of our collecting adventures.
Looking ahead, my husband’s sights are set on a new acquisition – the enchanting “Witch on a Pumpkin” by Jim Shore. As we continue to explore the world of Enesco together, I’m reminded of the joy that collecting brings and the enduring magic of these beloved treasures.
